The crowds came for the Chicago Poetry Fest in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and we’ve got clips from the first day of both two-day festivals — August 28^th 2004 and August 27^th 2005. We also have select pieces from the August 25^th 2006 show, at the Society of Professional Journal;ists convention (held in downtown Chicago). And if you want more readings from these Poetry Fests, you can also listen to Scars Internet Radio, where there are two days worth of live clips from the 2004 show (these recordings plus the live readings of many people at the Weeds in Chicago), which are set to play in the radio line-up.

    Kuypers was scheduled as the final of 15 poets with a 10 minute feature at the 2006 Society of Professional Journalism Expo’s Chicago Poetry Showcase of “A Celebration of the First Amendment” on Saturday, August 26, from 1 until 4 PM at the Hyatt Regency, 151 E. Wacker Drive, in Chicago via the 2006 Chicago Poetry Fest. Thousands of professional journalists from around the country are attending this Journalism Expo, and anyone can attend this free poetry showcase at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago. Kuypers (the Journalism major and member of Kappa Tau Alpha National Honor Society in Journalism, as well as a magazine editor and publisher of books with her editorials, available for sale on line) was thrilled to be the ending highlight this poetry feature.

    Kuypers also practiced her performance at the Lake County Poets Society open mic (hosted by “JPoetic,” who appeared in the second day of the 2006 Poetry Fest), days before the actual SPJ show. Although the materials were altered last minute after this show (in this practice performance, for example, the poem A Great American is used, which was pulled from the show for another poem), we have an mpeg recording and an mp3 recording of this practice session as well.
