Judge: Put Green Party on Ballot
Updated 2:36 PM ET October 13, 2000
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A federal judge has ruled that presidential hopeful Ralph Nader's name must appear on the Nov. 7 Ohio ballot as the Green Party candidate and ordered the Secretary of State to put the Green Party label on all ballots.

Voters are entitled to see Nader's party affiliation, according to the ruling by U.S. District Judge John Holschuh.

Mr. Nader, the candidate nominated by the Green Party, obtained the number of signatures required by Ohio law for him to be placed on the ballot for the November election, Holschuh wrote in his opinion. He cannot, therefore, be considered a 'frivolous candidate.'

Nader joins three other third-party candidates already on the ballot with their party label: Reform Party candidate Pat Buchanan, Natural Law Party candidate John Hagelin and Libertarian Party candidate Harry Browne.
