Edict to Suppress an Idea

Janet Kuypers
10/4/25

This little office has become my second home,
Lots of plants at the one window begging for light,
Stacks of books on my desk in cultivated disarray.
I’m surrounded by maps and clocks on the walls;
These four walls and shut door close me in.

But in this place, I have a mission — I’ve seen the
Injustices first-hand to people, so locked in this box
I research and reveal the chaos when reason breaks
Down. I don’t know if I make a difference, but I have
To try, to show a path to correct the destroyer’s ways.

The last I heard, though, after the most recent
Changing of the presidential guards, so to speak,
More and more people now claim “censorship” as
President Trump’s DOE bans hundreds of words...
Because they are “woke,” or “politically charged.”

With the first time any U.S. President has done this,
Even the National Library of Medicine fears this
“is part of a much larger effort to upend public health
care in the United States and globally. It is as much
a war against words as it is a war against science”I .

Now, of course, Fox News will reiterate that the
White House does not have a list of banned wordsII ,
As words are scrubbed from government websites &
Documents as Trump tries to remove all references
Not only to DEI, diversity, equity and inclusion—

But also hide climate change, vaccinesIII , in a now
Growing and terrifying list to attempt to whitewash
America by deleting its history — and its ability to be
Both stronger and safer. Because, I hear if we don’t
Talk about a problem, it doesn’t exist. Just close your

Eyes, plug your hears and start singing Mary Had a
Little Lamb
in your headIV— act like an ostrich and
Stick your head in the sand, and keep telling yourself
That ignorance really is bliss. Maybe that’s what I get,
Trying to uncover the truth, that makes me want to

Bang my head against the wall. Because whatever
You do, don’t try to contact the government to find
These truths when you can’t even use the words you
Need to get to the core of the issues.        Speaking of
These now banned words, what are they, and how

Bad are they really anyway? Because, I finally
Got a hold of this listV to see what words should
Not be brought up according to your Government
(And this list is approaching Four Hundred words or
Phrases now). Well, alphabetically, the first word is

Abortion. (Of course, it’s number one in this list.)
Because as I said, if we stick our heads in the sand,
ignoring the 10-year-old girls who were raped by
family members and forced to carry a rape to term,
Then we don’t have to acknowledge those nasty issues.

Right below it is accessibility, because why should
people in wheelchairs need to worry about access
to basic things in life? Wait, I can’t go through this
word by word, it would take far too long, so let’s
quickly scan for words as you scroll... Affordable

Homes, or 14 phrases about water, are now off limits
(Though “water boarding” is not off limits). Don’t
Talk about air pollution, or Autism (and btw, anti-
Racism
and racism are both on this list too). Oh,
The word black is off limits, as are many carbon,

climate, cultural phrases. Don’t bring up Covid-19
(Haven’t we gotten over that yet?), and don’t think
for a second that you’re discriminated against,
because that word is banned too. There’s no equal
opportunity
if your government has anything to say

about it, and equality is also right-out, even if it’s
Evidence-based or science based. Female, feminism,
Fetus
, even fluoride is off limits, + 16 phrases about
Your gender. And hey, if blacks are right out, so are
Hispanics and Native Americans. See the inequity in

This inequality with banned words from your govern-
ment? There’s no gay, lesbian, or LGBTQ in our brave
New world, and with our heads in the sand we don’t have
To talk about our mental health, or diseases like Measles,

Or the microplastics the power-hungry have duped

Planet Earth into U>consuming. But hey, obesity and
Opioids must be solved too, because they’re now-
Taboo words... Lucky us, so is oppression (thank
you! I’m no longer being oppressed! VI) PFAs and
Peanut Allergies are now no-no words, and lucky us,

So is prejudice. If we don’t talk about the 6 listings
For anything racial, then we must have solved our
Racial problems (whew!) Then I saw that things
Off-limits now also include “topics that have received
recent attention from Congress” and “topics that have

received widespread or critical media” — so if the
government talks about it, or if media talks about it,
It’s off limits.                    You know, I think I’ll just
Skip to the end of the list, see if anything starts with
Z, but no, the end of the list has a few phrases about

Women — and it’s perfect that the last phrase is
“women in leadership”. Because, who would want to
Talk about women doing things well in this world.
This civilization throughout history stifled women...
Make it a government edict to suppress the idea, too.

During this megalomaniac’s first reign, he filled one
Branch of our government with judges who chose to
Remove the rights women once had. Now, with his
Newsspeak and double-plus-good conniving, he’s
Undermined all the people’s health— and liberty too.
