poem “Extra Blade”, a poem about a man, who usually carried multiple knives on him. now uses a came, and he bought one with a really ornate handle that he really liked, and when he was waiting to go through security to take a flight at the airport, he discovered the handle was loose, and when he unscrewed the handle he discovered that inside the cane held a 14 inch long sharp thin blade, so he didn’t take it on his flight, but he found it in time to leave it in his car for his flight, and he was glad that with this cane he could always have another, hidden, extra blade with him, By Chicago Poet Janet Kuypers

Extra Blade
Janet Kuypers

He used a cane, and raved, talking about
how much he loved his new cane —
it had this really ornate handle...
but once, as he was waiting at the airport
to go through security, he noticed
that the handle was loose.
He started to unscrew the top of the cane —
once he did, he pulled out a 14 inch
long, thin, sharp blade inside.
He was glad he noticed this before security
at the airport stopped him, and
he felt bad he couldn’t
bring his new favorite cane along with him
on his trip, but with this new cane,
he was really glad with his
discovery. Though he always kept knives on
him, this new cane gave him one
more, hidden, extra blade.
