Oh, the book is Better             than the Movie Janet Kuypers 11/1/19, written on National Authors Day Spotlights are on the entranceway, paparazzi are lined along both sides — a stretch limo pulls up, finally stops... as the car door opens, flash bulbs already start popping for whatever new illustrious writer will emerge. In our now insta-moment gratification society, we idolize pop stars, actors, and sometimes the occasional sports figure; illustrious award ceremonies gratify the actors who temporarily play characters an author created for book pages — but no one in our insta-moment gratification society pays those authors much notice — even though they are the ones who got those characters in your head. “Oh, the book is much better than the movie” is heard countless times, so why isn’t the author more revered than these temporary actors? They make the real difference, they create what you love. They should have the red carpet rolled out, for they deserve the world. For they make it better.
